Biden Inauguration: Empty Streets and Troops Seen in Washington, D.C.

The streets of Washington were quiet on the night of January 18, save for troop movements, amid tight restrictions ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.

A public access map was released by the Secret Service on January 17, showing a large number of bridges and roads closed around the capital.

In addition, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced on January 15 that 13 metro stations would be closed and 26 bus services detoured until January 21.
